Exoplanet Science in the JWST Era

Over 5,000 exoplanets have been discovered so far, while statistics tell us that billions of them exist in the Milky Way. The James Webb Space Telescope has opened a new era in exoplanet science: atmospheric characterization. Every day, we are learning a bit more on exoplanet demographics and the variety of their sizes, compositions, etc. Ultimately, this allows us to better understand how Earth-like exoplanets may be common in the Universe and to move closer to answering the fundamental question “are we alone?”.
